Has anyone been able to find from which side of the family did Ana Francisca and Maria Gabay got their surname? I have tried to find that surname among Spanish surnames with little success. However, I have found that Gabay or Gabai is a Jewish surname. Further I learned that Gabay is a person that performs duties similar to an usher. Here is a description:

I've run into an Iron Curtain with my 4th GGF Diego Martin Flores. He was born probably abt 1730 and died 27 Jul 1808 in Colotlan. He married my 4th GGM Gertrudis Leano.
